Yoshino Japanese Deli is a tiny little storefront in Carlsbad, a cozy little town in the suburbs of San Diego. There is no real menu at Yoshino – people just show up around lunchtime and see what they are serving that day. The lunch lineup starts sometime before noon and they close whenever they run out of food.
The bowls are incredible. The fish is fresh, the rice is perfectly cooked, the combinations are just right, and the sides are sublime. The lotus root sunomono is also fantastic. If I lived anywhere even close to this place, I would make a point of eating lunch here as often as I possibly could!
