Cinnamon, sugar, and pecans twisted in freshly-baked organic dough and smothered in sweet icing makes for a hot, sticky, yummy treat.
The Kootenay Bakery Café Cooperative is an organic scratch bakery that focuses on producing food that is wholesome, healthy, and delicious. These buns are neither wholesome nor healthy, but they are certainly delicious.
Like many businesses in this amazing little mountain town, the co-op makes baked goods for all types of alternative diets, including gluten-free, dairy-free, wheat-free, egg-free, and meat-free. You can get spelt anything here – from bagels to hot dog buns to pizza dough – and there is always a tantalizing array of treats in their display case. My favourite are these soft, sticky cinnamon buns.
My grandparents live in Nelson and I’ve eaten in so many of these places! This cinnamon bun is seriously the best cinnamon bun I have ever had. Thanks for reminding me of good food! Also, the fish and chips at Main Street have been a part of my Nelson visits for many years.
Thanks for your comment, it’s great to hear from someone who has been to these places. 🙂 I used to live in Nelson and was so excited to revisit all my favourites while there last week. It’s a particularly good place for baked goods!
